The Little Mermaid

Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea.

We invite any one interested in being a part of one of our performances to come out and Audition for:
THE LITTLE MERMAID

Cast size 40-50
Roles open for all ages

Audition Days & Times
Saturday July 8th @ 2:00
Sunday July 9th @ 2:00

With this being a summer audition we understand people have vacations, we will set an early audition time at a later date.
Please let us know if you need this!

TIMES:
Sign in will begin at 2:00 & Close at 3:00
Auditions will run until all those that signed in have finished.

LOCATION:
THE ACT 2205 9th Ave Northport

WHAT TO PREPARE:
SINGING - Prepare a song from or in the style of the show. Bring sheet music marked clearly with start and stop in the appropriate key. Pianist provided. CD May be used but should be music only, no voices. No Acapella singing please!
You may be asked to read from the script.

Dance Audition: Everyone will be expected to stay for a dance audition, please bring appropriate footwear.

CAST MEETING
The first meeting/rehearsal of the full cast will be Thursday July 13th @ 7:00 .

Rehearsals begin: August 1st


CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS/ROLES AVAILABLE

Ariel
-female, King Triton’s youngest daughter, a beautiful young mermaid with red hair, stated age in the show is 16

Eric
-male, a human monarch; he’s a handsome, affable lad with a buoyant, adventurous nature, stated age in show is 21

Ursula
-female, ripe with bitterness, King Triton’s banished older sister. Puts the ‘fatal’ in ‘femme fatale’ Possible a FLOWN CHARACTER

Triton
-male, King of the sea, beneath his imposing presence and commanding nature lurks the harried single father of seven girls (no dance required)

Sebastien -
male, a crab, court composer and advisor to King Triton

Mersisters (6)
-female, (Aquata, Andrina, Arista, Atina, Adella, Allana) daughters of Triton, Ariel’s older sisters

Scuttle
-male, a seagull, a self-proclaimed expert in human artifacts (tap dancing an asset) FLOWN CHARACTER

Flounder
-male, a rambunctious young fish, he’s Ariel’s smitten best friend

Grimsby
-male, the droll British guardian of Prince Eric

Flotsam & Jetsam
-male/female, two eels, lackeys to Ursula. Unctuous as used car salesmen, albeit with less charm (the two need to be of similar age)

Chef Louis
-male, the Palace chef, a French culinary perfectionist (may be an ensemble member)

Pilot
-male, a helmsman of Prince Eric’s ship (may be an ensemble member)

ENSEMBLE( 25+)
-male age(10 Plus) 16+, female (10 plus) age 16+, and children (5+) age 8-15

The following characters will be cast from the ensemble
Sea creatures -mix of ensemble
Sailors -male, workers aboard Prince Eric’s ship
Maids -female, staff of Prince Eric’s castle
Chefs -, sous staff of Chef Louis
Princesses -female, potential mates for Prince Eric
Gulls -male or female, casting to be determined by tap dance ability
Fly Doubles (2) -preferably one male and female FLOWN CHARACTERS

Ensemble will be cast for multiple roles, so a female could possibly be a sea creature, gull, and princess.
